More painting

A pretty dull weekend at our place. We had our last Chinese language class on Saturday and then stopped by the hospital to visit Cameron. Grabbed a quick bite for lunch at the Great Dane and then stopped by my favorite bookstore Frugal Muse. I picked up the book, Caring for Your Baby and Young Child: Birth to Age 5, by the American Academy of Pediatrics. I hope to be able to learn what the developmental milestones are for young children so I have an idea of what to expect when we bring Tessa home from China.

Twiddling our thumbs

No, we haven't been twiddling our thumbs. We've just been putting on coat after coat of paint. So many, I've lost track. I've also started painting a storage bin that I picked up at Pier 1 to match the decor. I can't wait to have Tessa's room complete. The dresser my friend Kari picked up for us at IKEA is a perfect addition.

So, after waking up at 5:00 am, Dustin proceeded to paint some more. You can't hold that man back. :)

Getting Rid of the White

With some new paint, we were finally able to start filling in some of the white spaces. We're moving right along and I can't wait to see what it looks like when we're finished

Third Coat

Well, you may not see much change with this photo, but we painted all day yesterday. The paint we bought at Menards was latex and it seems to be thinner so we are finding that we need three coats to get rid of the blotchiness.

Colors Abound

Well, as you can see, we got to work immediately after returning from Eau Claire. Right now we are focusing on outlining the various images, then we will give the outlines a second coat, then work on filling the images in. Once that is complete, we will re-outline everything in black. So far so good. :)

Quick update

We are on our way to a wedding, so not time to comment, however, we finished the second coat of blue and started on the pink.

Painting Day Two

Last night we put on our first coat of color. We decided to start with the background and after debating over which shade of blue to use we got started.

Dr. Seuss Mural

Believe it or not, we have finally started painting the nursery in anticipation of Tessa's arrival. I have to admit that when we first started outlining the characters with black paint I was worried. The last time I painted anything other than a wall in our house was in the 7th grade. Let's just say that my brush strokes were not very smooth. After a while I started to get the hang of it and once we were finished outlining all the images on the wall it looked pretty good.
This is my first entry into my new blog. I thought this would be an easy way to keep family and friends updated on the happenings in our lives. I look forward to sharing the mundane as well as the exhilarating moments we experience on our trek to become a family in the coming year.
