Hometown Flood

Many of you who have been watching the national news over the past week have heard about the historic flooding of the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, IA. I grew up in Cedar Rapids and many of my childhood memories took place in areas now covered underneath the floodwaters. Making this event even more personal for me is my mom's residence in Cedar Rapids. She lives just inside the 500 year flood plain which was evacuated last week. She left her house last Thursday and is staying with a friend. Thankfully, she is safe.

The tan house with the flag is where my mom lives.
