The Hundred Words of Mason

Mason has really calmed down once he was able to start telling us what he wanted in English. We've also been able to anticipate what he wants next. Bringing your bowl of soup to the kitchen table? Better bring 2 spoons.

The next thing he started to do was string 2 words together. "Big Bite!" was a favorite. "Too Big" when he tries to sit on something small.

And now he's stringing full sentences together, although they can be a bit blocky, "Mama, baba big bite" as he tattles on my eating habits. I can't remember the 7 word one off the top of my head from last week.

He has fallen in love with communicating with us, and is always asking us, "Di Xia?" which for him means, "What's that?" He now is in full linguist command of everything in his little world. We sat down and came up with a list of all the words he knows. This list is ONLY the English words he uses on his own with no prompting. He is able to use more words with some help, and he repeats even more words we say. And he understand even more words when we ask him to do something.

airplane, applejuice, baba, baby, ball, balloon, banana, bath, bear, bicycle, big, bird, block, boat, bowl, bubbles, bye, car, cereal, coat, cold, cow, dancing, diaper, dinosaur, dog, doll, dolphin, done, down, duck, eat, elephant, eyeball, fish, flower, get, glasses, grandma, grandpa, help, high, high, hot, hot dog, in, kitty, lawnmower, light, lion, little, mailbox, mama, milk, monkey, more, muffin, music, night, no, one, out, owl, panda, people, phone, pillow, please, poddy, pond, potato, push, raining, read, ready, ride, rock, sandbox, semi, shoes, shovel, slide, socks, spatula, spoon, stuck, sun, swimming, three, tickle, tongue, too, towel, two, up, vegetables, watch, water, yellow, yes
