First Day of Day Care

How quick a month goes. Thursday was the first day of Day Care for Mason. He seems pretty excited about it. We try to talk to him about it. We have a picture of his teachers, he's excited about his lunch box. I drop him off at 7:30 a.m., and Heather gets to pick him up at 3:30pm.

On the ride there we talked about the rain. He wanted to know what the windshield wipers worked. Even though it quit raining, he kept wanting the windshield wipers to run.

Once we got there we walked around and saw the frog pond, playground, barn, art building, etc, etc. Really nice place! I tried to find out if I could sign up, but Mason must have gotten the last opening.

In front of his buildling, Day 1 !

When we went inside, we put his lunchbox in the right place. Then we were told we have to wash his hands every morning due to germs. Then a big hug goodbye and a quick exit. Mason gave me a kiss all on his own.

Mason was enamored by a table of fuzzy balls that you could pick up with giraffe chopstick thingies. It was an easy goodbye, since that's all he wanted to play with. I took off:

When Heather picked him up, we found out that eventually Mason found out I had left (half hour later) and started crying. He got over it. We also found out he ate all his morning snack, and part of his lunch. He slept for an hour. Then had an accident. The rest of the day worked well with potty training. He started to cry when some kids were picked up early by their parents. Heather got there on time, but apparently he was worried about getting picked up.

Day 2 didn't go so well. Half way to day care, he said "No Teachers". He cried all the way there, in the parking lot, and even after explaining that Mama would pick him up and bring him home later. I dropped him off in his room, and he threw a temper tantrum, kicking and screaming. I asked if I should leave, and they said yes.

Heather got a call later from one of the teachers and while Heather expected a "come pick him up now", she was told he settled down after a while. They took him outside to feed the goat, and he calmed down. Then he heard another kid crying, and started crying again. Eventually he settled down again. It was nice of them to call and let us know things are working out.
