We've been busy as bees since Mason started daycare. Both our work and family life have kept us on our toes in recent weeks. Dustin has begun a new job at the University as a Peoplesoft Application Developer. I've been traveling to Illinois and Minnesota recruiting potential MPH students. Mason celebrated his 3rd birthday. We traveled to Iowa to visit family. Dustin's sister got married. Things should settle down for us once the month is over, but then we'll be gearing up for the holidays.

Mason seems to be adjusting to daycare. He's had a handful of tear-free days. He will often cry at drop off but his attention shifts quickly to more fun things before Dustin even makes it back to his car. He bounces back quickly. Mason had two birthday parties this year. Both were great successes. His first party was a joint bash with cousin Ben who turned two on 9/27 in Iowa. We had lots of pizza, cake and presents with family.

Last weekend we had party #2 with some of Mason's friends. We kept it small, only 3 other children and their parents. The size was just perfect and allowed us to talk as adults and control the chaos of the children running around playing. We had a bug themed party with a caterpillar cake. The kids created their own bugs from construction paper and stickers, then they went on a bug hunt using cheater chopsticks to pick up toy bugs scattered over the living room, and finally they played pin the bee on the flower. It was a blast.

In addition to Mason's birthday party, we also celebrated Dustin's sister's wedding. It was such a touching and intimate ceremony. Mason had a blast running around with the other kids on the lawn after the ceremony. It was fun to watch them run from one end of the lawn to the other collecting rocks in their plastic cups. Mason's cousin Cameron certainly kept him entertained and you could tell that he looked up to her.
