We got to the airport very early, but as our flight time was approaching, there were whispers of fog being an issue. Eventually we were told officially that the pilots of our incoming plane would be making their own decision to land in 0.25 miles of visibility.
Eventually they announced that the plane was turning back to Chicago, and everyone made a mad dash downstairs to the ticket aisle. All I could think of was all the hard work getting through security going down the drain as we left the area.
We were about 10th in a line that went well past 60 for United. Then they announced a Northwest plane refusing to land, and there were 60 people in that line. The ticket desk looked at all our possible options. It was too late to drive ourselves to Chicago to make our flight to Beijing. We did have some hope in going on the 8:00 PM flight out of Chicago to Virginia to Beijing. However, our original tickets were flying us West. They were unwilling to replace our tickets for East-bound tickets. (New rules against them losing money)
We are set to go tomorrow. Everything is basically the same except our hop to Chicago will be the earlier flight.
Since we're already packed, we plan on getting some sleep tonight. 2 hours just didn't cut it this morning!
Here is my nomination for Liar of the Year... our local weatherman explaining about the "some fog" we had today:

See you at 5 am tomorrow! I may be there physically, but mentally I'll still be sleeping in bed...
WARNING: I'm not a pretty sight at 5am!! Make sure you wear shades!

Hopefully you're exhausted enough to get some good sleep. DARN that weather (and the weather man!)
*stretches*
Noon - 8pm. The perfect sleep! I'm going to do a few things and then go back to sleep.
At first glance, I thought you were really serious about Beijing looking like Madison. Kari thinking: "Oh, really? I wouldn't have thought that Beijing and Madison had that much in...oh. I get it now."
Here's hoping all goes well tomorrow morning! Our best wishes to you!
