The Cats are Back

Things are progressing slowly, but well here at the Cote home. We are still getting used to normal sleep patterns.

Yesterday we brought the cats back from some good friends who watched them while we were gone. (It was tempting to lose their phone number and never contact them again!)

Mason likes to point at them and tell us where they're at. And with 4 active cats, it's like having 100 of them. "Baba, baba!" Yes, there's a cat upstairs. A cat downstairs, a cat in your seat.

He's getting better at them. We must have spent 2 hours of him wanting to pet them, but chickening out. He once tried to spit on them, which we think is something left over from the orphanage. He has yelled loudly once at them, and then ran laughing into our arms. Then when we were having supper, a cat jumped up into his seat and gave him quite a fright! As you can see here, contact is inevitable, and I think it won't be long before we're telling him to quit pulling their tails!

I've been waiting over a month to sink my teeth into this! I can't believe I held out this long, but am I glad I did! Nothing like putting something in from the freezer the day after you come back, and it's done 1 hour later. Colleen made this delicious pasty, and being from the UP, you know it's done right! Thank you!

Well I hope the pasty was as good as you hoped! (I don't have an exact recipe so it's a bit different every time..) THANKS for posting the pictures. It is just amazingly wonderful to see the pics of you all at home together. I love seeing Mason chasing the cats - He will have no end of entertainment I'm sure. (I really enjoyed the pics while you were gone too, of course. It made me want to go to China again SO badly.)

don't expect the pointing to stop any time soon. sarina points and yells out an "aahpy!" (i.e. puppy) at least a couple times a day

He has a hard time telling the different between cats and dogs.

Hi!
Your harrowing tale of the trip home left me exhausted just from reading it! Good thing you'll never have to do that again! Mason is too cute with the cats and looks like he's right at home already! What a cutie! I'm sure you are all STILL catching up on your loss of sleep! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy that sweet little boy!
Love and hugs,
